Riding Motorcycles in Thailand

one of the most popular riding destination in the world...
Although the south of Thailand has some great touring roads it's Northern Thailand that brings in the bikers with high mountains and twisting roads weaving through the lush tropical forest and with less other road users Northern Thailand is close to perfection for a biking Holiday.  Our tours all begin and end in Chiang Mai city Thailand's northern capital where within just a few short kilometers you leave urban Thailand and able to ride for weeks among the picturesque rural landscapes.  Northern Thailand is a very mountainous region made up from the foothills of the Himalayas (Sub Himalayan region) bordering the countries of Burma (Myanmar) and Laos.

Thailand is a large country being about the same size as France (Europe's largest country) with a population around the same as the UK. Actually  the northern section of Thailand is also around  the same size as the UK so, plenty of land to ride in un-spoilt regions with relatively few population meaning,  very few other road users!

Climate

Perfect riding weather
Compared to the south of Thailand the northern reaches are considerably cooler during the months of November through February being the only season we ride our set tours.  This period offers cool days with daytime temperatures hovering around 26-28 degrees but temperatures in the mountains can drop to a chilly 3 -5 degrees at night.   Fear not though, we do not ride at night  but the cooler temperatures bring clearer air giving a visibility of over 200 kilometers from the mountain peaks under crystal clear blue skies.   Perfect riding weather

Thailand is among one of the hottest countries in the world and this is certainly true even in the cooler north between March and May when temperatures can exceed 42 degrees bringing forest fires, low visibility and dust.  This is not the best time to ride motorcycles being very uncomfortable and we do not operate tours at this time.  Between June and October we have the monsoon season which brings a welcome relief from the heat and dust but sometimes too wet to ride far.

We want you to experience Motorcycle riding in Thailand at it's very best which is why we only ride tours at the optimum time.

Culture

Experience many cultures...
Northern Thailand is famous for it's vast cultural differences.  The Northern  Thai's culture derives from it's 'Lanna' roots with influences taken from Burmese. Northern Thailand is famous for the large population of ethnic groups known as Hill tribes who migrated from Southern China, Tibet and Burma over many centuries and  have still kept their identity including the Lisu Hill tribe as depicted in the picture above, Akha, Lahu, Hmong, and many more.

When riding with us you will experience these tribes throughout the tour and maybe wondering when you will actually meet a true Thai person.  Each tribe has its unique culture and language although most younger ones do speak Thai although with a strange accent and live fascinating lives high up in the mountains living a farming life growing mountain rice and vegetables for sell at market.  Until fairly recently they were also famous for growing Opium however in recent years this has slowly died off after the Thailand 'War on Drugs' and the fact a higher profit can be made from vegetables with a much less labor intensive work load.

Nightlife

We try to squeeze in some of Thailand's famous nightlife through the tours but bear in mind we ride to off the beaten tracks.  Much of the time you will find yourself in a sleepy rural village or on top a mountain along one of the borders with Burma or Laos where night clubs are simply something the locals have heard about.

Saying that we do not starve our guests from the taste of urban life!  Our tours and destinations are carefully balanced to bring you the best of Rural and urban lifestyles.

Food

You cant talk about Thailand without a mention of the food! Through out the tour we will eat like kings dining some of the best cuisine in the world.  Some tour companies include food into the package but sadly this means most of the time you will be eating buffet style food which does not do any justice to the food and buffet food is something you will not find with us..  Food is one of the lowest priced commodities in Thailand and with such a vast array of dishes suitable for most palettes it would be a shame to limit yourself to buffet fried rice and boiled chicken.  Food on tour will be ordered ala carte by our Thai guides  depending on your personal taste and budget.  The menu will be varied every day depending on the location and the restaurant with the chance to eat local as well as national dishes.

Thailand is famous for it's spicy dishes however not all Thai food is spicy and usually cooked to the western palette tastes.
